Question:
Josh Dugan on the wing for NSW. Thoughts?

Dugan is one of the safest fullbacks in the game not to mention his speed, agility, and constant linebreaks from kick returns. I'm gonna throw it out there, but what about a spot on the wing? We have had a few wingers in the years who have failed and if Dugan has any sort of experience there i'd nearly give him a go. Imo he could give us that sort of X factor what Hayne gave NSW when he came onto the scene.

He's not the sort of player that cracks under pressure either. In his first year he was playing consistently every week, he was up there with Gidley/Hayne in the amount of metres gained.

So what are your thoughts?

Yeah thats not a bad idea, definitely something for the selectors to think about. If he and Bellamy were confident in him playing on the wing then I'd give him a shot before Brett Morris. I know Morris is a good finisher but you're right, Dugan could give us that x-factor. The only problem would be two fullbacks playing on the wings, its hard to get your head around but I think its crazy enough to work lol

We've gotta face the facts, we dont have good enough wingers to compete with QLD so why not try a new tactic. Its not like we have star wingers getting robbed of their position so I really dont see the harm in putting someone like Dugan in who wouldnt really have to change the way he usually plays. He has great defence, great speed, he's tough and can hit the line hard, the only thing that he'd be doing different from when playing for the Raiders is doing it out wide instead of up the middle. You could put in Brett Morris who will just stand around until its his time to finish off a try or you could put in a hard-working, explosive player like Dugan who can help relieve some of NSW's pressure in their own half aswell as create try scoring opportunities for them. I'm not saying I 100% want to see Dugan on the wing but its definitely worth the thought until some real wingers start to really step up. (Like Akuila Uate lol)

DogSoldier its not that insane, QLD has played the likes of Robbie O'Davis, Clinton Schifcofske and Rhys Wesser on the wing and they all had great games. If we pick undeserving wingers just because they're wingers then we will be 5-0. Just open your mind to new ideas.

Dugan???? Are you kidding, this guy is only a Fullback who are you trying to fool. At this point he would be my starting Fullback on form but S.o.O is based on selecting not only the formed players but big game players and whether he has it or not is something we would need to watch to find out. I agree that he should play City vs Country and go from there. I would play Hayne on the wing at this stage with the best finisher in the game, Morris. If Hayne gets the Fullback spot then Merritt maybe the man for the wing, we need to select the best players for the positions before we worry about what they could be.

Josh Dugan is a fullback that's where he plays and that's where he should stay. I agree that he is the in form fullback atm but he should not get selected as there are better bigger stronger wingers than Josh.

Jarred Hayne at fullback will do a great job.

Yeah why not! The only silly things Ive seen him do is go for chip kicks with 2 tackles in the 6 left I havent seen him drop bombs or throw silly passes.

He is fast and a good scorer. Hayne should get FB for the Blues if his form picks up.

I hope he gets City Country FB so we can see him step up a little bit and if he does well then SOO lets go!

Its great to see so many good players coming through the ranks hey

How about Dugan at Fullback? he's in better form than hayne, anyway why should hayne automatically get it just because he had some great games LAST year.

He would do a good job, but there are too many decent players in front of him.

Just wait till you blokes drop the 2 opening games and we have already wrapped up the series then Dugan might get a run.

Why is there this obsession with picking players out of position for representative teams? If he's good enough then play him in the position he plays week in and week out in the NRL. Why would any kid with aspirations of playing for Australia bother playing on the wing when we keep picking fullbacks to play there instead??

No.

If Dugan plays, give him the fullback spot, but he needs at run at City v Country first.

no,

why are we so keen to get good young talent and throw them into origin. NSW make this mistake so many times it drives me crazy. a few recent examples being Mullen and Pearce. Both players played origin way before their time and their form suffered because of it. Give the guy time to gain some experience and first grade before he plays in the highest form of rugby league in the world. if we were going to put him in..let him play in his normal position

You're slightly crazy. He hasn't been tested under pressure yet. He hasn't played in a final series yet. There are better wingers in the game.

Hell no,it should be Nathan Merrit.Hope NSW will have all new players this year cos i don't want history to repeat itself as failure.

No way. Morris will be on one wing, Merritt on the other.
