Question:
In an NRL game, if the ball were in play for 60 minutes, how long would it take to complete a match?

The comparison is with the NFL- the matches take a fairly long time to complete, but that's because the ball is in play for 4 x 15 min quarters (excluding provisions for overtime)

In the NRL or Rugby Union, the planned duration is 80 mins (excluding provisions for overtime in the NRL), but the ball is not in play for that period of time

90 mins plus halftime.

(I'm adding on half a minute for every minute it's out of play probably a bit off but oh well).

It's an 80 minute game with a half time break of 10 minutes. Time for injuries is added on, same as for rugby and football. All three games normally have between 5-10 minutes injury time a game. The clock is not stopped for penalties except for when a penalty kick is being lined up. AFL does stop when the ball is out of play but this is normally counted in seconds. None of these games are stopped for advertising.

About 90 minutes.

Depends on how many adverts have to be played on the telly.
